Hand Embroidery Club

Embroidery is wonderful handwork to do while watching tv or traveling. Learn basic hand embroidery and connect with others while creating three projects: heart of autumn (pillow or wall hanging) or trick or treat in October, 12 Days of Christmas tea towels in December, and a lavender heart sachet in January.

Getting to Know Your Sewing Machine

Bring your sewing machine and we'll help you get comfortable using it. This is a hands-on class covering topics such as: basic threading, bobbin winding, tension adjustment, basic machine maintenace, choosing the right stitches, basic feet and accessories and when to use them, picking the right thread, choosing your needle, and setting up your work area for your project.

Machine Quilting

In this class Jo will cover the basics of machine quilting. You will learn how to use a walking foot to stitch in the ditch as well as how to use a darning foot to do free motion quilting. You will learn several methods to mark a quilt and how to use pre-cut stencils and tissue paper. Jo will discuss the use of various types of thread, needles and batting. In part one, you will learn to use the Tri-Recs tool to construct your stars, start assembling your 9-patch squares, and see how to straight-set your blocks. In part 2, you will turn your straight-set quilt on-point and add your borders.

Use one fabric, one shape, and make a one-of-a-kind quilt! One piece of fabric does all the work, creating kaleidoscope blocks from 60-degree triangles. This is a serendipitous approach to design and a forgiving sewing process. The first class session will cover the cutting and construction of the block, and the second will focus on quilt design and adding cubes.
